A friend of mine who is trying to help me get my business started asked me to make a cake as a thank you gift for the president of her mom's club. I charged $40. It's chocolate mmf with choc. cake and choc ganache buttercream filling. Do you think I was on in my pricing? Thanks for looking!!

What size is the cake? It looks great - I am not good with pricing - if people paid me for my time(I am very slow!) they could never afford me, so I go by serving size.

Cake looks great!! As for the price (not sure since I'm unsure of the size), I would suggest since you are starting out as a professional, you create your price list based on servings and accessories.

great looking cake! you did a good job with it. i estimate 25 servings from that cake (1x2x4), so for mmf i would charge $2.50 per serving=62.50. if i had used satin ice or choco pan fondant i would have charged $3 per serving=$75. (mmf costs less and isnt as rich in color as the pre made, so thats why i would charge less). thumbs_up.gif

I think your cake looks lovely! and for a first time price I think it was okay. The first time ones are always the least amount that you will charge! Great job! And just get more confident, right down all your supplies, and charge what you're worth!

Very pretty cake!
