That is one of the hardest things to do is get a point. Which tip are you using as I use tip 352 and it works much easier to do. If you don't get a point wait for a few seconds and then put some powdered sugar on your finger and pinch it together.

That tip hardly ever makes a point. There is another tip that works way better to make leaves. I don't remeber the number off hand, but it's the tip that looks kinda like a (V) . It has to points on either side and kind of looks like a tulip (without the middle petal). It makes much nicer leaves.

Like cashley mentioned above.

I personally prefer tip 352 (over 67) for leaves. It is a lot easier to get pointy leaves with it in my opinion. I guess I really havent made them with royal (except for violet leaves) but i ususally add corn syrup to my BC to increase the flexiblity. my leaves have come out pretty nicely-you can see my photos of the peach petunia cake using this tip and BC.

I know with buttercream I always add piping gel to get the points. Don't know about RI. Sorry I don't think I helped.

#352 works great! Be sure the points are in the middle of the leaf and you should get a point w/o any effort. I don't use 67 any more except for borders etc. Good Luck!

Is your icing too thick? Try thinning a bit.

I've also used a knife to open up the end of a tip just slightly.

I use my tip saver to really open up leaf tips. Since I use cream cheese icing a lot, I've figured out that it's the best for leaves. Since the icing is a bit gooey, it naturally comes to a point.

I made a ckae yesterday and when I went to do the leaveds I mistakenly put on tip 67 and they just weren't looking right so after 2 attempts I finally realized I didn't have tip 352 on it... icon_lol.gif I love making leaves with this tip they look very pretty. I just wish they made a larger one so I could get bigger leaves... icon_razz.gif

I believe this one may be the larger one of the leaf tips ... I use 352 all the time too!

Good news! There is a tip like #352 that is larger. It is made by Wilton and is # 366 and is is listed in the Yearbook as 402-S366*. That is one I would also like to get! I use 352 all the time. Hope this helps!
