Can I Substitute Gum-Tex For Tylose?

I am not completely sure because here we don't have the Gumtex, only tylose or gom tragant, but earlier I read that someone used the gumtex instead and that it has the same purpose as tylose.
Good luck with your daisies!!

Thank you, Lara. I have been reading the posts about this, and I am pretty sure I can, but I just want to make sure so they turn out they way they should. I bought Satin Ice gumpaste, and although I love it, it gets expensive and I would like to try making it. I can buy the gum-tex locally but I can't find the tylose, except online. Thanks for your reply.
Anybody else??
Just grabbed my can of Gum-Tex, and there is a recipe on the back for gum paste, so it should work if you use their recipe. Tylose is carboxymethylcellulose, a synthetic replacement for gum tragacanth (spelling may be a bit off on the CMC LOL). Gum-Tex is gum karaya - I don't know what that is, but it is obviously a gum of some sort. Try the Wilton recipe and let us know. We added the Gum-Tex to ready-made fondant to give the fondant more body for flowers and bows in the Wilton classes, but that mixture was more like 50-50 fondant/gumpaste.
