i happen to be working on a luau cake as we speak. I am using the attached cake as my inspiration. it was done by ailyn222 (i hope she doesn't mind but i just love it). Mine is for a Jack and Jill so i made a luau girl and a surfer dude. i hope this helps. i also have a bunch of Other luau cakes downloaded. if you want i'd be happy to email them to you.

OH...AND...a simple way to make palm trees is to use thick pretzel rods as the base and gum paste or fondant for the leaves and coconuts : )

Check in the Galleries under Tropical!! There are a few cakes there that are great!! I have made palm trees with pretzels before.Came out great!! Make some Hibiscus flowers in Royal icing.I just did mexican slab cake with them on and they were really nice.Easy to make also!!

Go to the top of this page and click on the tab that says "galleries", When on that page, click on "search" in the purple line ... not the "search" that's out to the right with a magnifying glass. Then type the word "luau" it should take you to many pages of luau cakes. Or, as previously mentioned, you could type "tropical". I think "Luau" will give you more results.

gmcakes has some beautiful Luau cakes... I'm actually using one of hers as inspiration for a Luau cake I have to make in a few weeks.... She was so nice to send me a template of her leaves and palm trees she sketched... She has also downloaded them for everyone to use in the templates and pattern section.... Take a look at her cakes you will surely be inspired, they are amazingly put together... Hope this helps! icon_smile.gif

THANK YOU ALL!!! I learned something today via "galleries" - the cakes are wonderful - I am doing a rectangle cake (water) with round (island)
on top - sand is graham cracker crumbs and then 3 pretzel palm trees - oh also putting some Hawaiian flowers around rectangle - I love that I discovered cakecentral.com - thanks!!!!
