ok....without going into all the details, let's just say I spent a very long time in the restroom yesterday. icon_redface.gif My mind was wandering and for whatever reason, I happened to really look at the design on the toilet tissue...(yeah I know....), icon_confused.gif

anyhow, I have used patterned paper towels to do an imprint on cakes, and I don't think the toilet tissue would work....but.....the imprint was really really CUTE!! It had butterfly's and the 'flying' pattern, with flowers etc on it. It's the angel soft if you really want to know.

I guess my thought/question is.....how can I "reprint" that design onto a cake? Personally, I think it would look just lovely on the side. It would really be no different than doing scroll work, but just don't know how I would be able to reprint that.

Thought...suggestions....(and yes, I know, I have wayyyy too much time on my hands).

You can put tracing paper over the toilet paper and used melted chocolate to trace pattern. I then let the pattern cool and press right onto the cake. I just thought about if you were using icing instead of fondant. Not sure if that will work. Sometimes the pattern comes off the paper, I just use a pair of tweezers or knife to remove form fondant. Hope this helps.

Another method - put a section of TP on top of some parchment paper on top of styrofoam. Take a sharp needle and poke holes around the outlines of the designs. This will make a raised dotted line on the back of the parchement paper which you can press to the side of the cake and it will give you a pattern to follow. Just like making your own impression matt. HTH

Oh by the way - you're not the only one that sees patterns for cakes on odd things - I pretty sure I seen the same TP and had the same thought icon_redface.gificon_biggrin.gif

What if you scanned it and went from there with tracing or copying the design. Seems it would be easier on paper. We have a place here that will take any photo/paper and make it into an icing sheet. Hmmmmm, dunno, I've always just hand-drawn stuff and don't have a clue on how to do a transfer. But I do know how to color flow but that would dry hard and don't know if you are looking to have that on your cake. icon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gif ...I think maybe my brain hasn't been cooperating today so if I sound crazy...it's a coffee withdrawal

take the pattern and place it under a sheet of stencil plastic, you can find blanks in the quilting department at hobby lobby, then use a hot glue gun to follow the lines, once that is dry and hard it will be flexible and you can use that to imprint your icing. see you at cake club.
