Hello,

I am doing a bridal shower cake for this weekend. Stacked gifts. The bottom will be 10 inches and the top will 8. When I turn the top cake kati-corner(sp?) to the bottom the corners will hang off of the side of the bottom cake. How do I do that? Will the corners fall off? how would I do a border? Will the cake board for the top cake have to show?

Thanks

if you don't rotate them fully, it'll look like the sketch.

to rotate a full 45 degrees w/out overlap, top cake has to be just under 7 inches square.

Thanks Doug, you are really good at this geometry stuff.
The picture of the cake that the bride wants is turned all the way, but she also needs 10 and 8 inch cakes, so I think that the best thing to do would be to turn the top cake the 16 degrees. I think it will look ok, I didn't see a cake in the galleries this way, what do you think?

simpler solution: make it a 12 & 8. then can turn all the way with just barely enough room to put border around the base of the 8

That's soo funny, I was just in the kitchen with upside down pans and had decided to use a 12" instead of a 10". I think that is what they used in the picture that the bride gave me. Problem Solved, thanks Doug!
