I am visiting my sister in Oklahoma and there is a cookie place here that sells sugar cookies that are to die for. They don't give out their exact recipe, but I did find out that they use powdered sugar instead of granulated sugar in their recipe. Does anyone have a recipe for a sugar cookie that uses powdered sugar?
You will most likely get a lot of answers for your recipe request, here is mine....(don't know if it is anything like you are looking for though).
1 C. butter flavor crisco (can use all butter or half and half)
1 egg
1 Tsp. Vanilla
1 C. Conf. Sugar
1 Tsp. Cream of Tarter
1/2 Tsp. Salt
1 Tsp. Baking Soda
2 C. Flour
Cream shortening, egg and sugar. Stir in vanilla.
Mix flour, cream of tarter, salt and baking soda..add to creamed mixture, incorporating well.
Roll into approx. 1" balls, put onto ungreased baking sheet,
flatten with bottom of glass dipped in sugar.
350 oven until lightly brown, depending on your oven...aprox. 8 minutes.
They get a little browned on the edges.
I really like these cookies plain, buttery tasting, they melt in your mouth and are wonderful with a cup of coffee.
They can be glazed if you like.
Can you roll and cut out these cookies or will they spread too much?
The place is called Eileen's Colossal Cookie Place - they are fabulous!
The cookies can be rolled and cut and their edges are not brown in the least.
