I made Marshmallow Fondant with Marshmallow Creme- yummy!
Anyway, I experimented and made 2 loops like you would to make a bow. I let them dry for 2 days. I laid one down on my counter and put the other one on top to see if it would work. The bottom loop collapsed
.
Has anyone ever made a bow out of MMF? If so, how did you get it to work?
I have made a bow out of MMF. I let them dry for a week, just because I wasn't ready to assemble it before that. They all turned out okay, but after I assembled the bow, using royal icing, a day later two of the loops broke at the end where it was attached. I think next time I will try using the candy melts like they suggest. Also, are you rolling your fondant too thin?? Maybe that is why yours broke.
I'm in the process of making my first loop bow this week. I read some suggestions to add some gumpaste to the fondant help it harden, so I did 2 parts fondant to 1 part gumpaste. So far, it has only been 24 hours and it's hardened pretty nicely! I don't need to finish it until Friday though so I'll just keep letting it dry out for now.
Actually I was afraid I made mine was too thick and therefore it didn't have enough time to dry. But if you let yours dry for a week and they still broke then it sounds like MMF bows aren't the way to go.
Do you know where can I find a recipe for candy melt bows? I almost bought some candy melts the other day to have on hand. Now I wish I had.
(50/50) Now that's an idea I've never heard of. Let us know how it works for you. You just might be on to something! ![]()
I have also heard that MMF isn't the best for these kind of things, because it doesn't dry very hard. I have heard that using Wilton fondant is better, but you wouldn't want to eat it, yuck! 50/50 is a good solution too. I bought my candy melts at a local cake store, but you could check Michael's craft store or Walmart.
