OK cakers.... I need your suggestions!
I just received a call from a caterer I do work for and he is in need of 1,000 cupcakes for Nordstrom's.
No problem but I need suggestions for the maroon rose they want on top of each cupcake.
It's got to be something I can make in advance and classy/formal looking.
All the cupcakes will have gold wrappers.
Thanks so much,
Lori V.

For that number of cupcakes I would personally go with the rolled fondant rose- they are quick and easy!

My suggestion for 1,000 cupcakes? RUN!

Seriously, though, I think I'd make the roses out of royal icing. I never dyed it maroon. You'll need a ton of coloring. I think you should dye small amounts at a time. Why does it have to be maroon? Is it their logo? We don't have a Nordstroms around here; all I think I know about it is it's a store.

How about icing the cupcake tops w/an off white of antique white buttercream. And...making just very small maroon roses out of royal icing or gumpaste ahead of time. When dry, use a small paint brush and brush the tips w/gold luster dust.

Found these:

for just under $200 you'll have everything you need without spending hours and hours. And this place has free shipping for $200 and over. I know lots of members here have ordered from this place.

Thanks for all the ideas and suggestions!

Dodibug..... You win! And Discount Sugar Flowers is in California, not too far from me.
For 1000 cupcakes I really don't need to have the satisfaction of saying I made the roses.

thumbs_up.gif Cool. Happy to help! Do they have a store front there or just shipping only? I love the look of those small ones with the leaves. Sounds like it will be very pretty with the gold foil. My thinking was you'd end up losing money when you count the amount of time you'd spend making all those little flowers! I can't even begin to imagine!?! icon_eek.gif

Don't forget to post a pic here so we'll get to see them!

I think I would go with a rosebud out of royal icing. That way you don't have a huge rose overtaking the cupcake. Classic & simple Good luck

I guess someone should say it: CONGRATULATIONS ON GETTING THE NORDSTROM CONTRACT!!!

Was that loud enough?
