Newbee Needs Rhonda's Ultimate Help!!! (Beware....it's Long)

I need help!!! I experimented with fondant for the first time a few weeks ago for my DM's 50th. She requested a specific design, which is how I found this site. (Thank-you all for you wonderful ideas and advice.) I came to realize that fondant would be the only plausible way to decorate this cake. So, after extensive research on this site, I decided to use Rhonda's ultimate mmf and Rhonda's ultimate chocolate. The regular mmf came out good, loved the taste, the only problems I had were "user error". (Definately need lots and lots of practice rollin and coverin with this stuff)
But I had HUGE problems with the ultimate chocolate. Followed the recipe to the "T", but the consistancy was very different. It was extremely dry, just broke apart. I kneaded and kneaded, added crisco and more crisco, tried adding more corn syrup, then to soft and sticky, so I added more powdered sugar. Nothing I did helped, no matter how soft or firm I made it,, the elasticity just wasn't there. So..... I dumped it, and started over. Someone on the site suggested making the regular ultimate mmf and using cocoa to knead and finish it off,, So... tried that the very same night, made sure I stopped before it got too stiff. Let it sit until the next night and ![]()

same exact problem, no elasticity, just broke. It reminded me of play dough when I pulled it apart. So... needless to say, part of my mom's cake did NOT get covered in chocolate mmf. And I figured I wouldn't be makin that again. But now, I have the same problem with some regular mmf that I dyed green. It was fine, nice and elastic when I finished needing the dye in, I greased it, double wrapped it, sealed it in a bag, and today... PRESTO!...it's the chocolate mmf problem all over again. It breaks apart like play dough and when I added crisco it just seamed to get kinda sticky and grainy. So.... after all this rambling all I really want to know is why did my mmf lose elasticity and HOW DO I GET IT BACK!!! (I greatly apologize for the legnth, needed to vent, I am starting to hate fondant)
Yes, I tried throwing it in the microwave and it didn't really help. I am so confused to what happened. It was still nice and stretchy when I finished kneading in the color a couple of days ago. So, what happened since then?
