I am trying to start a new cake business and I have searched for specific info without much luck. Does anyone have wisdom to impart or a link to a great thread to share with those start ups like me?
What is the first step to take? I assume you must reserve your name and file articles first. What type of company would you suggest? A Corp or Inc would require you to file Articles of Incorporation and an LLC would require Articles of Organization, correct? Anyone willing to share which type you chose and why?
If you rent kitchen space do you have to have your own insurance so the owners does not go up? Do you have to find someone with specific baking insurance or is it just like any other business insurance? Does renting kitchen space require anything other than a written agreement between you and the shop owner and another inspection by the health dept? Are there any hidden cost for the shop owner or cake business start up owner?
How do you set up receipts for filing taxes? Do you just use quickbooks if you want to handle your own? What other fees are needed to start? Im sure I have left out a lot, but these are my first questions. Will anyone out there with experience help me out.... PLEASE ![]()
See this thread .... JanH has posted everything you ever needed to know! http://forum.cakecentral.com/cake-decorating-ftopict-358713-.html![]()
If you get nothing out of all of this info, get this: Start on a business plan. Now. Today. Before you do anything else.
