Ok I baked two round 8inch cakes let them cool in the pan for 15-20min and put them on a cooling rack, then straight to the freezer... under the cooling rack though, i put wax paper.... and i just checked on them, not frozen but very cold, and they are sticking to the wax paper... are they doomed or can they be saved?

i havent leveled them or anything yet

Whenever I have frozen cakes, I had foil under them so don't know what will happen with wax paper. However, I let my cakes freeze thoroughly and then take them off. Sometimes a very tiny little bit sticks, but nothing damaging. Maybe just wait until the cake is completely frozen.

If you are going to level the part that's sticking, it shouldn't be a problem...after they are completely frozen though.
