The only thing on your list I wouldn't have bought was the ribbon pan. I think it's cute but I don't see how often it would get used. I see the ribbons on everything lately but do you really think people will buy ribbon cake? I'm asking in a normal tone, not being snotty but that's hard to come across. I want the pan but have talked myself out of it for that reason.

I really think everything else will get used.

The ball pan is great even if your boys aren't into sports or you only have girls. I have used mine several times since I got it in January and have never made a ball out of it.
The ribbon is the only thing on the list I wouldn't have bought, you can always do a ribbon on a sheet cake with a FBCT.

I'm with TheVienneaus!

I am not familiar with the ribbon pan, but with small boys I imagine race tracks and waterslides, etc.

I have to say I bought the ball pan only to make a baseball for my hubby, but I use half or all of it quite often.

Have fun!

I will be learning the stacked cake thing and I wanted the dowel rods for a practice cake just to have toys around so when I am in the mood for something new thank you for all your comments I guess I thought the ribbon was am impulse buy too.

The ribbon pan is shaped like the Awareness Ribbons. i.e. Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness or the yellow magnetic ones you see on people's cars supporting US Troops. Here's a link showing the pan:

I have also thought about buying the pan, but always put it down and use my 40% off coupon on something else. I really do like it though and may end up with it yet. icon_wink.gif

Thanks - it's a cool pan. When it said flexible I thought it was a flexible rubber like pan that would allow you to make shapes, etc....

basically I was dreaming icon_biggrin.gif

Yes Hobby Lobby. Yes I am lucky but I won't be buying anything else for a while I also didn't buy anything for wedding cakes or character pans only the ball just cause it's cute and I know I will use it for sure. I also won't be making wedding cakes anytime soon unless I make a tiny one to practice stacking cakes. I don't plan to sell cakes anytime soon and you can't sell the character cakes. Thank you all for your comments usaribbon.gif

I just dont like the letter press. I am not sure if I have the same one as you or not, but I only used it once. But that is just a personal preference.

I'm so glad I found this post! I too have been rethinking some of my purchases. I bought the Tiered Floral Centerpiece and the Three Teir Cake Stand. I didn't go planning to purchase either, but both looked really verstile to me. I do catering as well as cakes, so I thought I could use them for other things. I have never worked with fondant, but I am planning on it as soon as things slow down, so I purchased the floral garland cutter/ejecter and the fondant tool set and the cutter/embosser. Will I ever get my money out of these? Thanks, Katie

I never even thought of that! Maybe it's not such a bad idea that you picked it up icon_smile.gif. Now I'm going to want this pan again after talking myself out of it! icon_razz.gif

Okay I personally don't have experience with the script message but from reading on here many did not like it. I bumped up a post about most unused items and I believe that one was mentioned a couple of times.

Also one thing I have found is that the character cakes are kindof over rated if you are thinking business wise for cakes. Many here have said once they learned transfers that they really don't use those pans. Just for example my parents had a hay day buying me pans (bless their hearts for the kind thoughts), but I bet I have over 50 character pans that ummmmm I DON'T use. Can't sell them, hurt there feelings I would think. The ball pan though, I think was a good buy just from what others are mentioning, just might have to go back and get it (YEAH icon_biggrin.gif )

My suggestions for pans are, 2 or 3 (not kidding) 12x18 pans, 1 - 11x14 and 2 9 x13 pans, the cross, the book, the horseshoe. THose pans have paid for themselves many times over. Hope that helps. Oh yeah for weddngs, round sets, square sets and hearts are good starters

CakeDiva...there is a pan out there like that...kind of! I can't seem to find it now, but I'm sure someone can help me with this. It is a rectangle pan with blocks that you insert to make number shaped cakes. By moving the blocks, you can create any number, 0-9! I thought it was really cool when I saw it. I didn't buy it, but neat idea! Can anyone point me in the right direction as far as a pic goes?

Dreams come true, sometimes! Hehe
