I was going to bake a cake last night for a co-worker's birthday. I pre-heated the oven.......but when I went to put the cake in, the oven was stone cold!! It wouldn't turn on. This was at 9 pm last night.

I called a friend to see if I could use her oven....but she wasn't at home. So, then I got the idea to use one of the ovens at my church (since I do alot of volunteering, I have a key to the church). But I couldn't figure out how to turn on the stupid oven!! It was an electric oven with no knob.

Anyway, I called in this morning and left a message at work that I would be very late. Then I went to the church and baked my cake. I was kinda worried about how it would turn out since I made the batter last night and had placed the cake pan in the frig.....but it turn out OK.

Now, I get to go home and decorate the cake for tomorrow........and go shopping for a new stove.

I was going to make cookies for my (2) nieces this weekend (for their birthdays). Maybe I'll have time if we get a new stove tonight.

hey south austin girl, that is too weird, I live 30 miles from austin and last saturday my oven died when I put the cakes in. It preheated, and when I went to ck on them 30 mins later, NO HEAT. I had to scramble and place them in an toaster oven( the cakes were 2 8's and 2 6' luckly). they came out good and the cake was a hit at the baby shower. Hope you were able to get a good new oven.
