In a couple weeks, I am making a cake for a friend. She recently adopted an 11 year old girl. I don't want to write anything on it - like "Welcome to the Family". But I have been wanting to try a whimsical cake but haven't really had the occasion.
I have done some research and got some ideas BUT...
Does anyone have any tips or suggestions that may not be listed in the instructions?
What works best and what doesn't?
Also, I have done a layered cake before but I am not really sure the correct way to place a top layer on the bottom layer. Usually, I just hold it over and "drop it". Is there an easier way to place layers without sticking your fingers int he other layer?
