Hello,
I was just wondering what the best thickness for the NFSC is? Or for any of the rolled cookies really. I will be making some with and without sticks.

Thank you for all of your help!
I'm truly addicted to this site, It is wonderful and so helpful.

Thanks -- Dawn icon_smile.gif

If I do a cookie bouquet I roll it a about 3/8 of an inch and I use really thick shishkabob sticks instead of the cookie sticks. Without the sticks I roll them about 1/4 of an inch.

3/8 of an inch, with or without sticks (I like a thick cookie) but if I get a bit carried away with the rolling pin, 1/4 inch is good too.

3/8 of an inch for a cookie bouquet for sure.

3/8" for me as well....with or without sticks. Love a nice thick, soft sugar cookie!

You can use dowel rods as your quide. Just put them on each side of the dough while rolling it out. The dowel rods will stop the rolling pin from going down any further than that. Make sure to space the rods only the distance of your rolling pin. This helps to prevent you from rolling the cookie dough too thin. If you want a thinner cookie, you can use cookie sticks which are a bit thinner than the dowel rod. I read this somewhere here in the forums. It works wonderfully!!!!!!

I just found the area where I read the information about rolling out uniform cookie dough. It's "Cookies on a Stick 911". This technique works every time!!!

I never thought about using the dowel rods to make sure all of my cookies are the same thickness. Thank you for the wonderful advice.

I roll mine 1/4 inch even for bouquets. I don't bake with the stick. I glue SKINNY LOLLIPOP STICKS to the back of the baked cookie with melted chocolate. Those thick cookie sticks never work for me. Love the skinny sticks.

I usually roll mine 1/4 thick but sometimes it varies. Thanks for the tip about the dowel rods! that's such a great idea. I'll have to try it next time.

I use the dowel rod idea, but use 2 wooden spoons for thickness.
