?s About Using The Tall Tier Stand

I'm so excited! I got my first order last night for a Quinceanera cake! The cake design that they picked uses the tall tier cake stand, which I own, but have not used yet. I have a couple of questions for anyone experienced with this stand:
1- Do you have to buy the corer tube or is there another way to cut the center out of the cakes?
2- Is there any way to put the tall tier stand on top of another cake plate so that the cake can be placed over a fountain? The girl really loved the idea of a fountain under the cake, but I told her it wouldn't work with this stand. I offered to set up the fountain next to the cake or near the other food, but that didn't interest her. It seems like putting it on another plate would be too unstable, but I thought I'd ask in the interest of pleasing the customer!
3- If I order the 4-arm attachment for the base cakes (4 8" cakes), will there be room beween the cakes for the little staircases?
Thanks in advance! This cake isn't due until Thanksgiving weekend, but I'm so psyched about it! It is my biggest cake order to date, so I want it to be perfectly planned out ahead of time to save my nerves a little. ![]()
1. Buy the corer, for the couple of dollars you will save yourself a ton of grief.
2. I wouldn't but it over a fountain, it would be a disaster waiting to happen.
3. I don't know about the stairs, never done them myself, but i'm thinking that it won't work.
Thank you Peg818! I will definitely pick up the corer now. ![]()
I made a pattern for each of the sizes so I could cut the circles out for the cake boards and cake. Once I mark my place I use the corer for the cake, and use an exacto knife to cut the boards. Are you using all 6 plates ? I think anything is possible, however I think you would have to build and construct a very strong base to hold the weight of that stand in order to put a fountain under the cake. If you know a carpenter he could probably design one for you. I see at least a 22 inch plywood circle for the top and bottom and maybe using those unfinished carved look chair posts or rails that they use on porchs. You could paint it white, or antique it or spray it silver or gold. The posts would be very sturdy. Once the base of the stand(no satillite extension) is on the top of your board you will have a gap showing the legs, you could just fill that part in with flowers, greenery and lights. Just a thought. By the way you could find all this stuff at Home Depot or Loews. You would have to measure how tall your fountain is. This whole set-up would be very tall. You would probably need a ladder to get to the top. Good Luck.
