I'm making a weddding cake on the 7th- as are many of you- and I was hoping for some opinions on a design I'm considering. The bride has given me a creative liscence with a few requests. She wants twigs, rocks, and fresh flowers, 8-12-16 stacked.
My idea is to cover the edge of the cake boards with fake twigs to give the illusion that the cakes are sitting on a pile of stix. I want to broder the cakes with chocolate pebbles and put skewers into the sides of the cake and rest the flowers on them- making the flowers appear to be floating on the sides.
I hope you great decorators won't think ill of me for using fake sticks and fresh flowers. I'm not ready for fondant and gumpaste. Thanks for any and all opinions-please don't spare my feelings, I won't be sensitive. I truely want opinions...
TIA

Sounds neat. Do you have Colete Peters 1st book, she has one in there that the sides of the cake are done as a white birch bark look. Sounds like something that might meet your requirements.

PM me your email address and I'll scan that cake from Colette's book.
