Hey-- Do you have any favorite "fall cakes"? Someone was asking me what flavors I could do that would feel fallish :O) -- What filling goes well with spice cakes or apple cakes or even pumpkin spice? Maybe you have others I haven't thought of yet that are popular? Any help would be sooo appreciated!! It would be for a wedding cake. Thanks!!

German chocolate is good anytime!

I think apple filling, caramel filling, cream cheese are all good with the cakes mentioned. YUM! I love fall!

Good question! I like orange BC filling with spice cake. Just mix in a little orange extract with the BC. This works well with carrot cake too. The old stand-by of cream cheese filling goes with spice, carrot, and apple. You could also add cinnamon to your BC for an apple or spice cake. If you're looking for something other than BC, you could do pudding or preserves. Apple butter is way yummy and tastes great with all the flavors you mentioned! It also has a thick consistency that's good for layering.
What a fun assignment!

You can also just add some spices to the buttercream/cream cheese. For example: Cinnamon to cream cheese and put it between a pumpkin or carrot cake!
