Hi!
A while ago (like - months or years) there was a thread with a link to a site that sells candy diamonds and other jewels. I am deficient in search skills, can anyone help me find the post and/or the link???
TIA!
I just bought a candy mold for bevelled jewels. I haven't used it yet, but I got it off of e-bay. You should be able to purchase directly from these folks, though:
http://stores.ebay.com/Candy-Mold-Central
In case the link doesn't work, the company is called Cakes 'N Things, and they have an E-bay store.
Good luck!
Melvira I thank you but I don't think that's it ![]()
FOUND IT!!!! It was actually www.THEjewelsofdenial.com
Thanks Melvira!!
I've ordered some jewels from her. Can't wait for them to come in! Here's an interesting side note and I've love anyone's thoughts/opinions...
When I was a little girl I have some piece of fake jewelry - ring, necklace, I can't remember - but the 'stone' came out of it. The back of it was painted gold. Must have been glass and would not have reflected or refracted without the backing. I'm sure the light would have passed right through, like it must with the candy. So I'm wondering what the jewels will look like when I paint the back with gold and silver.
Zahrah... that is true, they wouldn't look the same without the backing... I think it might be interesting to try painting the candy stones, but you might have better luck if you used edible gold/silver leafing. I don't think luster dust would work the same! Let us know what you come up with! That is very interesting!
This site has silicone molds to make your own gems

There is no light passing through these babies....they're cloudy.
There have been a lot of threads about Jewels of Denial....I ordered from them expecting the beautiful gem-like pieces that the website shows, but what I got was completely different. They were pieces of sugar, alright, but the colors were off and the facets were hardly noticeable....lots of chips and stuff, also. I was disappointed but they did refund my money without question.
No Adven68! That's not what I wanted to hear!!!
Well, I guess I'll have to wait and see what I get. In the meantime I am purchasing my own mold. I try to avoid making candy if at all possible. I'm fairly clumsy and that stuff is CULINARY NAPALM.
I'll keep you guys posted as to the effect of painting the back. I'm going to try a couple of different mediums and let you know...Looks like I
better order some gold leaf too.![]()

That is good to know.

you made me laugh!!! I know that a few people had these issues and she has addressed us in the very forums. She is quick to refund, so, perhaps, they have changed their shipping methods, and/or, production. Who knows...this happened to me months ago....I hope the quality has changed for your order.
I ordered from them for my treasure chest cake. She cautioned me of what they are and what they are not, because of the complaints on this very site.
I think where the misunderstanding comes in is with thier photos on the site. They are not actual photos, but a computer image made to look REAL sparkly. If you click on cake decorations they show you a realistic picture of what they look like.
For me they were exactly what I was expecting. I was expecting them to look like one of those candy rings with the giant gem on top, just smaller.
Adven68 I'm sorry your's were chipped and cloudy. Maybe that happened in shipping. Mine seemed to be in good shape, and not cloudy.
Sounds like I have stock in this company, but I don't. I just had a really good experience and thought someone should hear.
