I'm looking for a great tasting high ratio buttercream with butter. Does anyone have a good recipe?

I'm partial to the Brite White Frosting:
(I use the butter variation...)

I use a hi-ratio recipe by Sharon (Sugarshack), I love the smoothness in the texture of this icing. You could do it in a 4.5qt. just do 1/2 the recipe. Here is a link to the post where she gives the recipe and tips, if you would like to check it out.

God Bless,
Sharon

When I make the whole recipe, I get about a gallon bucket of icing.

Thanks so much! Can you use any butter in this recipe? I really like the taste of butter with shortening instead of all shortening.

I use Wilton Butter Flavoring (with other flavoring also) and get a really good buttery taste to the icing. I am not sure if you can use real butter, I would hate to say you could and be wrong. Don't know if you read all of the thread or not, but someone may have ask that question also, sorry I can't remember. If you haven't read all of the posts in that thread, try to because there are some really great tips about this recipe and tips about making the cake have a really smooth look after you ice the cake. We have never really notice any type of shortening taste in this recipe...I do know that since trying this recipe, my daughter-in-law & neice have change to using this recipe, but this is what our taste buds seem to enjoy icon_biggrin.gif.

I wish I could have been of more help to you, sorry.

God Bless,
Sharon

p.s. You could try IMing Sharon (Sugarshack) and ask her any questions you might have about the icing recipe.
