Hi All,

This is the first time i noticed this is happening. i usually use Wilton's color, this wknd i finally got some americolor. They work great and fast, i love them. So i decorated the cakes, i delivered them to my brother's house and noticed the colors faded. I did pink and purple. I'm going to try to attach some photos. hope they work and maybe someone can help.

The purple color is notorious for fading into a pale blue /grey. Pink has never done that though...Maybe it was the icing recipe you used.

That typically happens to purple or lavender buttercream that is exposed to direct sunlight....I don't know of a remedy except to keep it covered. Sorry it happened to you!

A friend was decorating a cake "baby blue" for a shower. She added just the slightest amount of the color. She said it was a really pretty baby blue when mixed up.

She said after it was on the cake, it turned to a pale GREEN!

Anyone know what might have happened? icon_sad.gif

the sunlight is very possible. I do know it was exposed to it on the way to the house. I have a hard time traveling w/cakes as is, so covering would totally freak me out. I usually ask my son, niece and mom to hold them while i drive and i'm constantly asking if they are ok.
overall my 8 yr old niece loved it... that's all that counts. everyone loved it to, but of course the kids thoughts icon_lol.gif come first.

thanks!
