It may sound kinda silly. But here it goes. Is there any Home Gadgets that can be used as a heating core? don't have the flower nail and the other heating core stuff.

Not sure it would work as well but, I think a piece of aluminum foil shaped like a flower nail would help.

I have read on another thread of someone using an empty aluminum can, (ie. soup can). They said they used it just like the heating core and it worked!

If you were using a can like a heating core, you would grease the pan however you normally do, then grease the inside and outside of the can and place it in the center of the pan (10" or larger I think need a heat core). Pour your cake batter around it in the cake pan, and also put a small amount of batter inside the can. When the cake is baked and cooled, you can pull the can out of the center, unmold the little "cake" that baked inside the can, and use that to plug the hole in the center of the cake where the can was. It would probably work just fine.

Try using a smaller, narrower can like a tomato paste can to get a similar size as a heating core.

Do i take the cake out off the pan as soon as it comes out the oven with the core and place on cooling rack witht he core still in tact?

Do i flour the outside of the core and the insides?

never used this before so i'm a little bit lost here...
thanks a lot diamonds mom

Let the cake cool in the pan on a cooling rack for about 10 minutes, then remove the core and unmold the little inside cake in the can, then unmold the larger cake, and stick the little can-cake back to fill in the hole in the center of the larger cake where the can was. If that makes sense...

I just spray the inside and outside of the can with Pam.
