Okay I know about frozen transfers which I have tried but not had much success with ... but I keep seeing all these beautiful cakes with elaborate pictures on them. Can anybody suggest how these are done? I've emailed the people from one particular site but they haven't responded. If you all think they are frozen transfers then I guess I will go back to trying them. But if there is another way I would love to learn and try it.

Attached is a picture of one cake in particular that I've seen that I'm curious about.

Thanks a million!

This looks to me like it might be a FBCT, but you could also try color flow. Same idea, just using color flow mix from Wilton. Then let it dry hard, remove from wax paper, and set it on your cake. You can't cut into a color flow object (just like royal icing, but it's shiney), so that is why FBCT is so popular.

If I were to do this, I would either draw the animals on with a toothpick and fill them in with buttercream OR use a cookie cutter for a template and trace with buttercream. HTH

I would have done pin prick method or gel transfer. The texture of the animals looks like the outlines were piped on then filled. JMO
