I like the hot glue idea and I was thinking clear vinyl to pipe it on. Would probably work well, dries hard and you could wash and reuse it. You would need to sand down the surface to get the glue to adhere properly. But it would be a great, inexpensive way to make custom patterns. I've never tried it but could be worth experimenting with thinking of the endless possibilities.

It seems as thought when you pushed the royal into fondant the royal would break, I am not sure I understand how it could work.

MissRobin ~ it does seem like the RI would break but for some reason I lucked out on mine. It will probably only work on small stuff like what I used it for.

Biya ~ I don't know where I missed the hot glue idea but that seems like a good idea. I wonder if there would be any "food safe" issues with it?

You need to let the RI dry properly & get hard & then you press it into the fondant as soon as you've covered the cake, when it's still soft.
It works really well

been gone so missed earlier question. The stencil sheet I am talking about is a blank one you can get a wal-mart or hobby lobby instead of cutting a stencil out I use Non-toxic hot glue which take care of the food safe issue to draw on the stencil (in reverse of course, but since you can see through them you can trace, then flip over and glue on the reverse side) really easy to do
