I am preparing for my daughter's first birthday party. Considering there will probably be no more than 15 people there I am going a little overboard, but this is my chance to be creative! I have always wanted to make a fondant cake so I was thinking of making a chocolate round cake with pink MMF and a cupcake made from MMF on the top using the cookie cutter that the cookie favors are made from. But my issue is the smash cake. I don't want to use fondant on that. Any ideas? I have thought about making a big cupcake using 4 and 5 inch pans for the base. Any other ideas?

well....my nephew just devoured the MMF on his smash cake and completely rejected -- right in to his and then mommy's lap --- the dark chocolate cake underneath!

A cupcake to match the cake topper would be cute, would also keep down the mess icon_smile.gif.

Or you could use whipped icing or buttercream on a 6 inch cake instead of mmf.

I personally love that bright color buttercream mess that comes from a buttercreme cake....my son just looked so cute covered in green and blue!

I would not use the mmf for the smask cake. I just don't think they would eat it. How about butter cream colors matching the mmf cake with a pattern on it?
