I offered to do the cake for a good friends baby shower. They are having a boy, and decided on a sports themed baby shower. I've looked through hundreds of pictures, and have been unable to find anything sports related. I am fairly new to cake decorating, so i can't do anything elaborate. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You could do the baby block cakes..... on one side of one block put a "B" and on a different block put an "O" and on the 3rd block put a "Y" then on all the other showing sides pipe sports balls

You could use a football and cut the center out of it to make it hold a baby!
Just a weird idea!

You could do a football shaped cake with the wording "A touchdown's headed your way" or with the scoreboard being the baby's due date ex

Thanks for all the great ideas. Now the trouble is deciding. If you have any more, keep them coming.

there's one in my photos of a baby cake for a basketball coach. Maybe that will help...

I recently found a great way to personalize a cake for any occasion....and a baby shower cake is what helped me find this. My sister-in-law is expecting, and her baby things are not the ordinary decor, but are in soft sage green, lavender, and a pale yellow. I could not find anything I liked, but at Hobby Lobby, I ran across some darling scrapbook cutouts that match her colors perfectly. They were, ironically, in the "new baby" section of the scrapbooking aisle. I got them, and have designed her cake around these. You can find ADORABLE scrapbooking supplies with almost any theme, and you can outline the area on the cake with piping where you plan to stick each cutout. They turn out beautifully. I plan to add a big fondant bow made of her colors on top of the cake! Good luck.
