Need help making grass around a football cake. I have the tip but do you add piping gel to to buttercream? I can't get my grass to stand and stay shiney...it gets all crusty and falls apart. Is my frosting to stiff??? Thanks in advance!

I would say so....I have never added piping gel too it.. never had it get crusty and fall apart..I think medium consistency is probably what i use.

I agree with mkerton, please see my car cake in my photos for the grass I piped using tip #233. Best of luck to you!

I think piping gel would make the grass droop. It worked well when I made it with medium consistancy icing too.
