HELP!!! ![]()
I not sure what you need to know. Be sure to support your cake with dowels or I use straws. Start with the bottom tier, Put your dowel or straw in the middle of your cake to measure by , this is usally the highest point. then cut all supports the same length. this will level your cake if its not. The next tier (if 8" should be on an 8" board or plate), place on top of the supports. & continue up. Just repeat the same steps.
When I travel with a stacked cake 3 tiers or more I get a long Wooden Dowel ( the thickness of a pencil) & cut it about 6" taller than the cake. Then I sharpen one end in a pencil sharpner, into a point. Then twist as you insert in in the center of top tier until it goes though to the bottom.
I call this my Tarvel Rod. When I get to site & get cake set up then I remove the rod, again twist & pull at the same time gently. Put your topper or decorations on top Or fill hole with icing. You should make it fine. Good Luck & relax, this should be fun!
First Breath.....
next remember to dowel properly and with the proper support plates this shouldn't be hard at all.
Make sure any cardboards that are between layers are covered top and bottom, to keep the grease from weakening the board (use two boards and criscross the grain for added strength)
Dowels and cardboards need to be added for every three to four inches of cake hieght.
I like to deliver my cakes already stacked, but many don't do this cause they are too nervous to. Personally i would be more nervous finishing a cake with an audience.
I suggest finishing it the night before the event and refridgerating the cake, a cold cake travels much better then a room temp cake. Make sure to have the ac cranked in your car, if your cold wear a sweater.
