I was all set to try out my new impression mats, but.... icon_cry.gif I ended up taking off a chunk of my bc icing and gave up. Does anyone use impression mats with bc? Any tips?

Did you use crusting bc and if so was it crusted before using the mat? I've used it on cursted bc without any problems.

I've never used them, but I would think that you would have to use a crusting buttercream recipe, wait until crusted and then use your mats. I use the Bounty paper towels for their swirl pattern and after icing put my cake in the fridge until it crusts over. I then take the paper towel and smooth it over the cake. It leaves a nice impression.

I did use crusting bc. And I thought it was crusted (I had already done the Viva smoothing method). Maybe I should've waited longer. ???
