Basic (Not Rolled) Fondant Help
Decorating By msmanning2 Updated 26 Jun 2007 , 11:48pm by cakelover888
I just made the Basic Fondant recipe from this site. My goal is to melt down the fondant after it is set and dip cupcakes in it. (like Peggy Porschen). Boy was this stuff hard to work with. I don't have a marble slab so I used a baking sheet for the stuff to set up on. I think maybe I got about 1/4 of it up, the rest just stuck to the pan. I think you need to be on steroids to work that stuff into the correct consistency. Did I do something wrong? Any tips from you pros out there?? Thanks! I will let you know if the stuff I did get up works for what I want to do.

I was thinking that too. Do you think poured fondant would get me this look?

I love Louise's cupcakes (this picture and from CC). She says she uses poured fondant but it looks like she uses Peggy P's. method (the one I tried)
Hi Folks..looking for ideas for using poured fondant on a large cake I ran accross your postings. If I am reading this correctly, your looking for a recipe for poured fondant for cup cakes. Some where in all these pictures on the site I have done this...the easiest way (and it's Fun too
is to buy the fondant from the bakery supply shops...using a double broiler or a crock pot fill with water and a bowl placed on top of it (pour fondant in this bowl) make sure the bowl is NOT touching the water. Stir the fondant until it is nice and runny (you can add water if it gets to thick). I just dip the cup cake up side down..give it a little twist and pull it out...you will be surprise how simple this really is...requires no muscle at all
I hope this help? ![]()
