please, oh please help! i make my marshmellow fondant and i follow the directions but there seems to be little pebbles in it...like maybe the sugar got hard in some spots, i don't know....how do i correct this? i had taken the fondant out of the fridge and left it at room temperature so it would be easier to knead...i didn't want to put it in the microwave in case it melted...could it be the powdered sugar? any help would be greatly appreciated...thank you

Did you sift the powdered sugar before you added it to the marshmallows?

Are you buying GV brand from Wal-Mart? I have had this to happen also. I think it is either moisture that had gotton in the bag during processing or they are not sifting much. Either case to make sure you will need to sift several times so that you don't get those pebbles. It is not with all bags, it seems to be random.

Sifting the PS would help the most probably.

As a side note... You don't have to keep MMF in the fridge (it is actually better if you don't as it can get hard) And to get it soft again, if it has hardened a little, put it in the microwave for 5-10 second intervals (depending on the amount) to soften enough to kneed... just becareful when you do this, sometimes it can get hot and you don't need to burn your hands.

yes, do sift. Even using a famous name brand that everyone raves about how good it is, I still have to sift thanks to the high(!) humidity of where I live.

here in NC and in FL where my sis is at, everything, ps, flour, cake mix just has to be sifted.

Hi jelli!! I had that happen to me, and I think that I was trying to add too much powdered sugar at one time. So I work in small amounts at a time and haven't had anymore problems with it.
