I just attempted my first try at MMF by using the recipe on CC. It turned out terrible. It would not hold together & was very difficult to handle. icon_sad.gif
Then...I found some forum postings today advising not to use as much powered sugar as the recipe indicates. It turned out soooo much better with the second batch. I am thankful to those of you who give out advise & encouragement!!

i just made the small batch of mmf which is one cup of mini marshmellows, one table spoon of water and one and a half cups of powdered sugar.

this is great if you only want to make accents with mmf. I just colored the marshmellow once is was melted then added the powdered sugar. it worked great.

do you mean the small mmf recipe.

if so, some one else from cc posted it in a thread, sorry i cant remember who it was but thank you to them anyway.

no i dont have little pebbles in mine, not sure why thats happening but maybe you could just knead it more or even sift your powdered sugar first.

in australia we call our powdered sugar - icing sugar and i have since worked out that there are two types, one is pure icing sugar which the sugar is ground more and sets harder once made the other is just called icing sugar which is still ok to use but the pure one seems to mix alot better and produce a better icing.

hope this helps

I did a recipe search for MMF on CC. It has step by step instructions. You might just have to work the fondant a little more when you take it out of the mixer.

My VERY best suggesion to you is this:
Buy a small package of Wilton fondant. This will give you an idea of the texture! I had a HORRIBLE experience with my first batch too...I hated it..crumbly and hard. It didn't matter how much crisco I used either! icon_confused.gif BUT, after "feeling" what fondant should be like...helped a ton! I realized that I don't need to use near the amount of PS I had the first time!

It was a whole new experience once I knew what it should be! I knew exactly when to stop adding the PS! Try it...you'll be SO glad you did! I made 4 batches on Saturday and they all turned out!! GOOD LUCK!!
