Amaretto cake, Pina Colada Cake, Chocolate Kahlua Cake and Puzzy Navel Cake? I am making them all for a bridal shower and I don't know what to use for fillings on each of them. They will all be covered with MMF. Thanks.

you have got to post those recipes....each one of those cakes sounds absolutely sinful!

They are delicious cakes. My favorite is the Amaretto. All of them are dense cakes and I love dense cakes. All of these cakes are in the Cake Mix Doctor cookbook. I think you can get them on her web sire also cakemixdoctor.com. I just don't know what filling to put in each of them. I was hoping someone on CC could help me. Anyone???

Is the fuzzy navel one the "peach" version?

I think mocha would go well with the kahlua, and maybe almond for the amaretto... pina colada; a coconut filling and the fuzzy navel depends on what flavor version.

It sort of depends on how sweet each cake is, as you will want the filling to balance that out and also what icing is going on it, but hopefully those suggestions will start your engine..

Great suggestions Christa. It is the peach one. Can you think of anything for the peach one? Thanks so much.

I think almond goes well with peaches...

Yummy cakes! Gives new meaning to a liquid diet! LOL

Not being sure how much peach flavor is in the cake, you may want to tease it out by incorporating it with the following recipe on this link.

(havn't made it but it looks yummy)..

If you are already overpowered by peach flavor, the almond suggestion would maybe cut that but never tried those two flavors together so not sure. Then if you use almond for the amaretto, you may not want to duplicate?... A lot of different flavors going on there so my taste bud sensors are starting to have an argument lol...so far, peach on peach is winning ...

No ideas about the other ones but I would do some sort of whipped topping or cream type filling. It should go nice with the peace and cut the sweetness a little.

since amaretto is already almondish in flavor...a true 100% butter cream filling with a dash of honey (sort of like honey toasted almonds)

pina coloda is already coconut so....a pineapple filling or mango or guava or banana or some blend of all of the preceding.

chocolate kahlua cake...can there ever be too much chocolate?...tho' depending upon the intensity of the cake...could do a dark chocolate or even a white chocolate filling ...and if do white, add amaretto for a trifecta of taste: chocolate, coffee and almond!

Puzzy Navel (love that misspelling as that's how I feel after one too many-- not just fuzzy but puzzy!) -- and praline filling or some variation on a light caramel or a stabalized whipped cream (peaches and cream!)

I just fixed the pina colda and the chocolate kahlua cake and both stuck to the pan!!!!! I used the wilton cake release too!~ icon_mad.gif j

So mad right now! I took a spatula and scrapped it from the pan and flipped it back onto the cake, but why is it doing this? It looks like it is completely cooked.

Well, maybe I will crumble them up and make cake balls. Been wanting to try those anyway.

The cakes DO taste good though.

I always make sure I shake my cake release really well before putting it in the pan.

I have used cream cheese icing with pina colada cake and it tasted really good. icon_smile.gif

So many awesome suggestions. Didn't notice that I spelled puzzy. That's funny. These cakes are going to be covered in fondant and I was hoping that I could fill them with something that didn't need to be refrigerated. Thanks for the suggestions.
