My friend and I were well on our way to opening a cake shop, when the city inspector decided that it would be a fire hazard. The building was provided by a another friend and it is a small apartment, in which one would typically cook. Our town is very strange and prefers that Walmart and the supermarket handle the market for almost every thing one would want. At first the inspectors agreed that it was a good idea to have a family owned business in town, with the restrictions for zoning be no excessive cars parked and no large sign. There had been a business in this building until about 6 months ago, they just had not bothered to be honest and check on zoning and all the required inspections.

So that leaves us looking for grants to write and doing it as a hobby instead of a business at the moment until we can get a building that meets our needs. Has anyone had similar experiences?

We have everything we could possibly need to start our business except a building. Has anyone written a grant to start their business? Thanks for any ideas. eduit

Maybe you could talk to someone at your nearest SBA (Small Business Administration) or SCORE (I don't know what this stands for but I do know it's some small business retirees that cousel people trying to start thier own business).

eduit, How did you make out with this? Were you ever able to open the business?
