I am making a 3 tiered wedding cake. If I use a 12" round base for the bottom what sizes would you go with for the other 2 layers? I dont want the cake to look short and sqautty. I will be decorating it with fresh flowers. Thanks for your help icon_rolleyes.gif

depends on how many you need to feed. 6-9-12 tiers would look good icon_smile.gif

It really depends on how many people you're trying to feed.

I've done 6 and 9 for the other tiers. You can also do 8 and 10...just depends on the guests...

I would do 6-9-12. I hope that will be in line with the number of servings you need.

6-9-12 will give you 12+32+56=100 servings based on this chart from CC: http://www.cakecentral.com/article14-Cake-Baking-Cutting--Serving-Guide---2-in-Deep-Pans.html
If they save the top tier for their first anniversary, that will serve 88.

Yah, when you figure out how many people you need to feed, and you feel that its still squatty, you can always use a cake dummy in one of the center layers. Just make sure you tell them that!

12=56 people
8=24 people both in 3 in or 4 in= 80-81 people
6 (top tier)=is that the top tier is often saved for the first anniversary.the number of servings given here does not include the top tier
