I have been to other days of sharing. I am not sure if they are doing a display section but no it is not required. mainly you get rub elbows with locals and learn some new stuff. It is $35.00 for non members but it is like a family when you get to know people!
Go to my email link and send me and email through there. I can forward you the info!
Ask away!
They are having food and it will be so fun!
At first glance of that cake (in the picture) it looks like you took a piece of fabric and tacked it to your cake. I looked and looked and it wasn't like I could say..oh yeah theres the fondant...theres the fabric. YOU DID A FANTASTIC JOB.
Are you on anything coming up? When is the wedding cake challege?
I have only seen a couple of them. My boys usually have the cable tv on cartoons and I am lucky to get it to watch Food Network. SCHOOL STARTS SOON THOUGH..
How do you come up with your designs? They are so unique! Most of my cakes have been copies of something I saw on line or in a magazine or combinations of cakes. The one cake I just did for my neice though, an alien cake..I put pillars in the base cake (9X13) and put glow sticks in them with a 8"cake plate on top and 1/2 bowl pan to make flying saucer. I didn't do the greatest job on the aliens flying the saucer. I did them in buttercream. Kind of sloppy. Should have done them in fondant for a neater look. I can handle flat cutout stuff in fondant..its the formed stuff that is hard. Anyway..all the waiters at Aliens Bar and Grill in Albertville had to come and see it ..they thought it was so cool. Then the manager came to look at it too. My neice, who is 8, thought it was the coolest cake she had ever seen. That was enough for me.
I was quite plesed with tha cake! Most think that it is fabric on the cake itself but if you look it is fondant!
The wedding cake challenge aired in KJanuary and reaired in June. It was the cakes modeled from wedding dresses.
Most of my cakes are my own design. There is some Wilton character pans and some like the baby boy baptism with the baby clothes are from other sites. My entire whimsical gallery is all me and seeing different things and trying them.
The cake sounds cool that you made!
It wouldn't even compare to those that you have made but..ya know...I like to do them anyway. Maybe in 10 years when my kids are grown I could focus more on cakes..but for now...just a side hobby.
That being said...I still plan to keep learning as much as I can in the process. I just recently made my first stacked cake...it was a learning process...getting dowels, figuring out were to place them. I am just going to keep challenging myself to try something new..and learn how to improve on it.
So - do you have a shop then?
