There is a grocery store called Market Street in Texas that on some of their 8" and 10" cakes they put one single giant rose. It takes up the whole surface of the cake. Does anyone know how to make that rose? What tip and how do you form the rose nail? I know how to make a rose just not one that big. The icing they use taste like a mix of buttercream and whip topping.
Thanks Y'all
hmm i have never seen that before. sounds interesting. anyone else?
I wonder if they use the whole cake as the "flower nail" and pipe it directly on to the top? I'd love to see a picture of this! Or else maybe they freeze it and then put it on top?
How big a rose does the giant rose tip make?
The biggest rose I've done was over a 4 inch cake...I think I might have used the 127D, not sure...it's the biggest petal tip I have though. When I formed the rose, I did it over an upside-down 4 in cake pan. I just put it into the freezer directly (with parchment between, of course) and then after like 5 minutes, I could handle it enough to put it on top of the cake. There are a couple pictures in my gallery with that rose...
an 8 inch rose though?? eeee gads! Well, I wouldn't be surprised if there were a petal tip out there somewhere that's as big as the cake icer tip
That would be one giant rose...and all that frosting! wowee! good thing theirs is whipped ![]()
Does any one have a picture of this giant rose? The stores around here that do cakes don't seem to do anything bigger than a 104 tip.
