Eek! My Cake Plates Don't Allow Me Room For A Border!

Hi everyone! I didn't anticipate my first post being a HELP ME situation!! I have made a 4 tier wedding cake for tomorrow, but when I assembled it using the hidden pillars, there is no room for any borders on the plates. I put my 6 inch cake on the 6 inch plate...8 on 8 etc...Now when I look at the cakes all I can see is the cardboard underneath. I cut the fondant to the bottom of the cake thinking I would but a rope twisted border, but now there is no room! I was so calm until now!! Any help out there? ![]()
How about putting a bigger board under it, so you have room for borders.
First thing is your not the onmly one who has ever done that. So dont be to hard on yourself. Are they stacked on top of each other? Or will be in the end? If so you dod it just like you needed to. No board showing is great! Just bring the needed icing or fondant to add the boarder once you stack them. If not being stacked as one suggested add a larger board under. Not a problem.
P.S. This is how you know your are a good decorator, not that it's perfect but that any mistakes are not seen. Only you and the cake know. WE WON"T TELL ANYONE!!
Wow you all are so fast and helpful!! I tried using a larger plate under the cakes, but then the top tier won't fit...you know, the "8 inch" plate markers are all the way at the edges of the 6 inch cake. The ribbon idea is good, i'll try a test run in a few minutes!
