I am looking to purchase a 20" square pan, as you can probably guess by the title. Anyway, the one on this site says that the pan is 20x20x2 so am I correct to assume that it is a 2" deep pan that is 20" on all 4 sides? I saw a pan on another site that it says their pan is 20x2 and that it is 20" in diameter. Are these the same size pans?

I am little math challenged at times so please forgive me! icon_redface.gif

Yes you are right. That would be a 20 inch square and two inches high.

Please make sure that it will fit in your oven. I know that I can barely fit the 16" square in mine.

good tip. I will check when I get home then, I am glad that I procrastinated this time in my life! I never would have thought about the pan fitting in the oven, why don't I ever thinkof the obvious? icon_rolleyes.gif

When you check your oven make sure you actually have a couple of extra inches around your cake pan for circulation, or it won't cook properly.

As for the cake pan sizes you describe I am seeing two different shape pans.

20"x20"x2" = length x width x height so you have a 20" square cake the is 2" deep.

but the 20"x2", 20" diameter would be a 20" circle, Diameter is used when talking about circles.

Hope this helps.
