Can someone please please please give me a recipe for a cream cheese frosting that crusts. I will be using the cream cheese frosting to ice the cake and I would like it to crust so I can use the paper towel method. I don't need to worry about decorating with it because I will be using Wilton's ready to decorate frosting in a can. (By the way, does the ready to use decorators frosting taste good?)
Thanks so much
P.S. a recipe with about 4 cups of sugar would be perfect

this is a recipe that i found here on cc. i tried it this weekend on red velvet and it was to die for! sooooo good, thanks whoever posted it first!
Serves/Yields: 3 cups
Prep. Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time:
Category: Frostings
Difficulty: Easy
Got it from the crusting cream cheese icing and modified it so I could use it to decorate the cake (borders and designs, etc.)
1 stick (1/2 cup) butter
8 ounces of cream cheese
2 lb. confectioner's sugar
1/4 cup of solid shortening (I use Crisco)
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
Mix butter, cheese, shortening, salt and vanilla until creamy. Add sugar 1 cup at a time and beat at low speed.
For glaze consistency, use only 1 3/4 lb. of sugar.

Go to the recipe column at the top of the page.
Then where it shows- keyword, type in crusting cream cheese.
It will take you right there.
I used it last week-end, on a carrot cake, and it tasted wonderful.
