Hi everyone!
Whew this has been a busy week! 4 cakes w/ 8 different fillings for 2 tastings on Wednesday, 2 baby shower cakes Friday, and a Red Sox hat cake for Saturday! I just thought I would share what I have been working on because so much of the inspiration has come from all of you!
The baseball cake was my first time doing the hat. It was pretty fun and a lot easier than I anticipated. The bill is 50-50 gumpaste/fondant, and the hat and bottom cake are red velvet w/ hm cream cheese frosting and covered in MMF.
The 2 baby cakes were for a baby shower at my old office. It was for 2 ladies having boy's, so they wanted 2 seperate cakes. I just love making the babies and this was my first time making the bears- they were SO easy! They took less than 5 mins a peice! I think I will start including them in my baby shower cakes a lot more now.
Well, thanks for looking and for all the inspiration that I get from you! I don't know what I would do without Cake Central!!!
Those are adorable baby cakes, how did you do the babies, did you follow a tuturial or just create.
The hat cake is awesome, I need to try one of those soon.
Thanks for the great replies!
Sorry, I wasn't very clear- the babies took about and hour to make but the teddy bears only took about 5 mins a peice. I haven't seen any tutorial, but I would love to! I have seen a lot of really great pictures here on CC and they have inspired what you see.
For the hat, I bought the Wilton ball pan and used one side of that and also a 6" round. For the bill, I literally covered one of my husband's baseball hats in plastic wrap and then cute the shape of the bil and let it dry overnight sitting on top of his hat bil. That was how I dot the shape to work just right. Then I just looked at his hat for the top and drew lines and dashes to match. I have found my new favorite tool- it came in Wilton's new findant letter set. I originally bought it to use for candy melts, and it came with a great tool that was perfect for the dashes.
Thanks again. I am happy to PM anyone with more detailed instructions if you want them! Happy Baking!
