I am trying to make SMBC for the 1st time. In the recipes I have read it doesn't say if the butter should be room temp. or chilled.

Does anyone know the answer to this?

Thanks!!!

I think the directions vary from recipe to recipe, but I don't take mine out of the fridge until the last second and then I add it (in small cubes, one piece at a time) while it is still quite cold.

Good luck!

After mine was done my DH said it tasted like sweet butter for bread. Is that what it is supposed to taste like? I have never tasted SMBC.
