Hi guys, I am going to try making MMF tonight for the first time. I am going to follow some recipies I've seen on CC. As its only gonna be for practice is it better to make a small quantity, if so what quantities should I use, also is it better to knead it all by hand or put it in a mixer. And if I make a large quantity will I find it much different than mixing a small quantity. How long can I keep it before I throw it away (or eat it)!!!!!

The forums and advice you all give on CC are fantastic (so much to learn)!! icon_rolleyes.gif cheers Jan

I think I would star with a small batch. It is a little diffrent from the whole batch because it is so much more elastic than the whole bigger batch. for the small batch you'll need:

1 cup mini marshmellows, packed
2 Tbsp water
1 tsp Crisco
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Melt the first three ingredients in the microwave. Stir completely. Knead in the powdered sugar. Use more or less depending on the texture you want for your fondant. *If you want to add color to it, add the color to the marshmellow mixture before you add the powdered sugar. the color will not change when you add the sugar.

I kneeded mine by hand and it worked fine, just remember to coat all of your tools, bowl, and hands with shortening.

Also.....if your going to be coloring it, I would get a pack of those disposable gloves (like the kind they have in the hospital). Getting that coloring on your hands is no fun at all! usaribbon.gif
