I need a recipe for a chocolate cake that will be moist, taste great, and still be durable enough to carve into 3-D type cakes. I find that my white and yellow cakes come out great but the chocolate is more crumbly and soft. Please help!

does anyone know of one from a cake mix, I'm not into making them from scratch too much. I really need it to hold up for a 3-D cake.

What about WASC with cocoa....

Adding sourcream to your cake mix will make it more dense like pound cake

If you want to use a cake mix, I don't think these hold up well for 3D cakes. You may want to use one of the cake extenders in the recipe section with yogurt or sour cream which seem to make the cake denser. Then shape the cake after you freeze it.

Sorry - I should have included the link to the cake mix extender:

The Darn Good chocolate cake comes from a mix. There's the chocolate version of the cake mix extender as well. The chocolate version of WASC is also good. All cakes are dense and good for 3D cakes.

What is WASC? I searched for it in the recipes and nothing came up.
