My cake EXploded!! icon_mad.gificon_surprised.gif Has this every happened to anyone else?? Only thing I can think of is that I over whipped the butter.. Tasted Great btw, but it looked like whipped frosting when I put it in the pan.. icon_confused.gif All was fine until about 30 mins into baking when cake started to look like lava overflowing from a volcano.. Dang oven actually caught on FIRE!!! icon_mad.gificon_mad.gif Tha cake is due tomorrow/today and I have a chargrill oven!! icon_cry.gif
Two questions: 1) What theheck did I DO?? icon_confused.gif 2) What theheck do I DO??? icon_surprised.gif To make matters worse, I made a double batch of the stuff icon_rolleyes.gif Do you think it will deflate some by morning? Oh that's right ~ it IS morning!

Also any quick ideas u have to clean up this messy oven and fast is much appreciated..

Hmmm....could be a few things. What is the recipe you used? Overwhipping the butter would aerate the batter too much.
The second thing I'd look at is your leavener. Is it possible that you mismeasured? I ask only because you said you made a double batch. Double check your math.
The third factor is the oven temperature. Too high a temp can cause a fast 'oven spring'.
Too much leavener+hot oven=volcano.

I know it's morining already, but I hope that helps for next time icon_smile.gif
