I remember someone posting about a cake mix company that was starting to produce their mixes in the same place that they used nuts. I know this is something people with severe nut allergies need to know. Does anyone know offhand what the product was?
I religiously use Duncan Hines Moist Deluxe butter recipe yellow cake mix! It's the best yellow I've ever had. But I'm making a cake this weekend and a guest has a severe allergy to nuts. I want to know if I need to find a recipe or at least warn the hostess.
Thanks if you can help!
I don't know off hand, but here's a BUMP for you.
Best of luck.
Got a question as to weather Duncan Hines does this their website ought to help you.

I've looked on their website and saw nothing, but I want to be extra careful. I'm planning on calling tomorrow morning (tried tonight but it's too late), but hoped I'd get a faster answer here. Nothing like impatience....:lol
I'm not sure about Duncan Hines but if you need a backup, I just did a peanut-allergy cake last week using Pillsbury cake mix. I called Pillsbury's number (800-767-4466) and asked if there was any risk. They said that there are no peanuts run in the plant. (I don't know about other kinds of nuts...)
Good luck!
I have contacted DH and they do indeed process all of their mixes on common machinery so there is a risk of cross contamination and traces of nuts and nut oils. Pillsbury and Betty Crocker on the other hand are peanut and nut free. Even the BC Butter Pecan is safe as all of it is artificial.
Most companies are very willing to share this information and will even get back to you if they can't find the answer.
Also, remeber that because you are using a peanut/nut free mix it still does not guarantee a peanut/nut free product unless that is how you shop and do things every day.
