I am no pro by any stretch, but I have made roses out of just MMF (no gumtex added). The petals were a little soft and had to be supported, but it worked. icon_smile.gif

Zamode,

did the cutters not come with any book? Do you have the Wilton course 3 book? It helps you at least get started. There are other good books that help too. Not sure if there is a tutorial on CC for gumpaste roses or not.

Sundine, no they didn't come with a book, I bought them from Cakes by Sam. I don't have the Wilton Course 3 book but I am looking to take that so maybe I will get the book. There are no tutorials on here for fondant roses and I have tried two other forums for help; no luck, thus far, online. If you know which books I would be appreciative! I will try another board and ask for specific help. Either that or practice makes perfect! icon_rolleyes.gif

Twinsy, thank you anyway. I did PM prettycakes over a week ago and she never got back to me. It's okay, it's like letting someone in front of you in traffic--it's nice but you aren't obligated. I thought CC was about sharing information, thankfully most people on here that I have contacted have been wonderful!

I never use cutters..I just pinch off a small pc. and flatten it with my fingers or a small rolling pin, that's why my petals are not uniform and I like it that way. I don't like uniformity.

I don't use buttercream. icon_smile.gif

Twinsline,
I responded to you by PM this morning., nothing bad.
I don't think I have you in my ignore list.. only the one that called me a liar, can't give her name...

I just looked at my list and I do not see your name there.

Zamode,
I do not see a PM from you . I apologize if you thought I ignored you which I never do..as a matter of fact I have gone out of my way to help people here.. I have a few times faxed instructions to them.. icon_smile.gif

Pretty cake I sent it last week, it was in my sent box......you've added your reply and sundine and marj have added help for me as well. I'm not going to let the thread get off topic, it's just gumpaste roses after all.

Zamode
If you are going to take the Wilton III course, don't buy the book yet. With my class the book was included in tuition. The class was on $12.50. But I think it depends on the instructor and what she decides. Good Luck with your roses.

Prettycake,
Do you use the prepared gumpaste or mix your own. I have never used gumpaste with my flowers and would like to try it. It seems to make a very smooth and sturdy petal. Yours are gorgeous.

I was thinking Wilton has a tutorial on their site about the gumpaste roses. I need to go check and see.......just checked, and Nope. (sorry) They are in the course 3 book, and I know I have seen it online somewhere! icon_confused.gif

I to pinch off a little piece and flatten it in my hand with my fingers. I also work on a small dowel stick rather than using the hershey kiss. Reason being mine get to soft (Houston weather) in my hands therefore I can work on the stick and eliminate the heat from my hands.
