I just had a request for a purse cake. Ive seen some in the galleries that are pretty amazing, and ideas and how-tos would be great!! It just needs to be a generic purse, in pink!

I just did a pretty generic one. It is in my photos. I just took a 8" round cut in half and put the sides together. Made the handle a few days before out of fondant making sure to put skewers in bottom so it could be attached to cake. Frosted w/BC and made fondant accents. If you need more cake, you can put a purse on top of another cake. Hope this helps.

Just found another picture of a purse I'd made a while ago. The quality of the pixture is not that great, but you'll get the idea.

I'm not sure if this link will work: http://www.parents.com/parents/story.jhtml?storyid=/templatedata/parents/story/data/1130438551015.xml&catref=prt57

but anyway, you can google or search for "purse cake" from Parents magazine. Looks very simple and cute.

Here is a picture of an "easy" one. I'll try to make it in 2 weeks.
I will use a 6 in cake, cut a little bit on one side so it can stand up and I am going to cover both top and bottom (circles) with fondant, then cover the sides with a fondant strip. Then detail the seems with a thin log of fondant.
Details are pretty simple : gold strip around the sides, handle, use wilton's fondant embosser to make the "stitching" details.

These all look great! Thanks everyone, I'll make sure to post a picture when I'm done. Its for a young intern in my office who is headed back to college. She is a big fan of my cake! icon_smile.gif

Here is the one I made for my daughters b-day.

I used a 9x13 pan, cut into 3rds., and stacked, covered in fondant.

Make-up was candy molds, and it is sitting on top of a jewlery box.
