Hi all,

I'm going to a family function and I was asked to bring a cake. It's a 4 hour drive & I don't know how the cake will survive.

It's a 2 tier cake filled with chocolate ganache & covered in fondant.

Have any suggestions for a safe delivery?

Thanks in advacne for you suggestions, icon_lol.gif

Box individually and lay flat on very cool car that has superb AC. Stack when you get there. Make sure to bring supplies for "first aid" icon_lol.gif HTH!

Ditto Fooby, but would like to add, pick up some of that skid resistant shelf line at Walmart and put your boxes on that and make sure your cakes fit snugly in the cake box to keep it from shifting. icon_wink.gif

Agree. Transport unassembled. I did a nephew's wedding cake and it was a 4 hour or more drive. Worked just fine.

I would leave is plain and decorate when you get there. But, store same as everyone else!! Look in my photos of Elise's Graduation cake! I traveled with it soo far and my grandparents didn't keep the AC on! aggh! But, it survived. I shouldn't have put the fondant accents on it though. stack and decorate when you get there!

I have to deliver a two tier cake (8" and 10") and have no choice but to transport it stacked. It makes me incredibly nervous as I had a mishap with a three-tier cake a couple of years ago and I have not tried to do a transport like this again. Will drive a dowel through the whole thing, but please wish me luck thumbs_up.gif

Oh another option would be to come a day early and decorate there. Otherwise, PRAY!!! icon_lol.gif
